V8s require a lot of body work. Have a look in the engine bay of one in Billing and you will see what the problems are. It's not just the engine size but a complete suspension redesign. I'm thinking now of an XE with Kawasaki ZZR 1100 carbs. Kits are available. Getrag 240 5 speed box which will handle up to 180bhp, uprate the drive shaft, LSD and up the brakes.
All of this and more will take considerably more time that it took to write this and a lot more difficult.

It's OK. Into a hire car and foot down. I should be OK
Now the problem online is I can't here all your accents.

Dam! I've hijacked my own thread. I'm just going to have to partake in some self flagellation.  :yahoo:

Cheers. I've just been away at a show on the other side of Ireland and while all want well the seats have to go. Over 3 hrs in them and I'm not feeling the best. Will have to see what will fit and is available. MX5 is one option.

Haven't updates for a while so here goes. Started about a week ago and the ignition switch rewards me with a nice puff of smoke. Switch gone and hard to replace so have fitted a relay(Which in hindsight I should have done earlier :suicide:) and push switch so now I'm back on the road. On the plus side I have sourced a 5 speed box, a manta sump and dizzy in case I want to fit an XE to the GT(I'm very tempted) and finally i might have gotten my hands on an 2ltrXE for free, will know in about a week or so. So things are coming along nicely.

Fingers crossed on the XE, that would be a nice boost for the old girl.

Well an XE has failed to materialise (though I haven't been trying too hard) but from another thread you will know that I have a Jag 3.6 which is beyond economical restoration. So now I have my donor engine, back axle and just need a 5 speed gearbox that will handle the power. I have a lot more research to do before I commit to this engine option. If I do take it on maybe I should be committed. At the moment I'm waiting for my garage to be built which should be in about 2 weeks all going well.
