Fuel economy
« on: May 21, 2009, 01:44:26 PM »

Hi guys & gals......... Me & she have just got back from a little drive.........

on roads like ................

French/Italian Alps  :blind: the roads are great fun even in a two ton slug  :D

2216 miles door to door

Fuel consumption record stopped after last filling in France........

1926 miles ..... 237.47 Litres (50.30 Gallons) of fuel ............. 36.82mpg

Worst 1/4 tank .......... 32.17 mpg (Alpine passes 8) with enthusiasm  )

Best 1/4 tank ............ 41.95 mpg (flat straight roads mainly 70 & 90 kph sections)

Not too bad for a 10 year old car with  121474 on the clock  :dance1:

:hi: vinny, was a good break,we met a lot of nice people & saw some interesting things, the weather (23 degrees) made it even better.

The cars you guys drive would be better suited to the hairpins but taking the 800 mile journey to get there into account I think the Fronty was a good choice.

If any of you guys fancy a similar trip go in July or August, they are the only time that the high Alpine pass from Gap to Nice s fully open,we ignored the big flashing FERME sign & drove up too 6580 feet before a snowdrift across the road stopped us  :fool: the views were worth the drive.

Looks like fun there. It's something I have wanted to do for a while.

I feel the need for a VQ9 road trip.
