I bought it as a standard car, it had already been resprayed, but there was some parts that needed to be retouched,
and added all the rest that I have stated in the first post on this thread.
When I first drove it, it was a nightmare, it felt like the steering wasn't connected to the wheels, so I replaced all bushes,balljoints,s/rack and replaced the standard rubber steering coupling for a solid type U/J GP4 rally type, now it handles great(for a 36 yo car).
I have story about it. I needed to roll the rear wheel arches to stop the rear wheels from scrubbing which involved so gentle use of an angle grinder,
now, the petrol tank is just above the wheelarch and didnt fancy having a big badda boom, so I removed the tank,
the petrol gauge was not working,so i was killing 2 birds.
I did not know much about how the guage worked, so I decided to get a manual on ebay, so I had to wait a week or so till it arrived.
so in the meantime I decided to have a go a adjusting the exhaust as the front pipe was hanging very low, so off came the exhaust.
Now, the clutch was very sharp on take off, so I decided to remove G/box and inspect the clutch, while the exhaust was off.
Clutch was f**ked so I ordered one
Now, with the g/box out, I noticed that the engine was leaking from the sump gasket, tried to remove sump while eng. was still in car, but this was impossible, so out came the engine.
With the engine on the floor and the sump off, I noticed about 1/2" of congealed s**te in the bottom of the sump which was nearly blocking the oil pick-up pipe.
All this just to fit a set of alloys

Twin carbs were a hooer to balance,  runs quite well now but the engine is a little tired.
I have another rebuilt engine and toying with the idea of a turbo or supercharger
Need to get a bigger shed first though ::)
