Car insurance...
« on: August 25, 2011, 06:05:44 PM »

Where do they pluck their prices from??!!!

I've just got a renewal for my Omega. 1995 3.0 Elite manual saloon, with all modifications declared (a lot of them)

5 years licence, 1 years no claims, i'm 22 and it was fully comp with £500 excess.

Who would like to hazard a guess?

On my mk3 Astra Sport hatch (1.8 16v), I was paying £637 f/c valued at £500 and business use. Now I have a mk4 Astra van (1.7DTi) I am getting quotes (not on road yet) for around £1195 tpft valued at £1200 personal use.

The insurance companies take the  :nono: and they have the nerve to ask why so many uninsured drivers there are on the roads  :suicide:

Now I'm pleased with that. However bear
with me.
This is how I cannot understand their
pricing
I tried a few other vehicles.
1999 1.0 corsa 12v £450!!!!
1994 toyota supra twin turbo import £747
Ferarri f50 £1568
1994 Impreza WRX wagon import (what i
used to have) £2400
See my point now?

Good news today that the government are finally stepping in to stop the blood suckers from claiming huge cost for getting people to claim

It certainly is mate. However, I can pretty much guarantee that these companies will try and find a loop hole to carry on with the way they trade.

Apparently (going on what I have read), there are also plans to cap the price of insurance. As much as I would welcome this (as I'm sure every other motorist would), I can't see it happening. The insurance companies are making way too much profit, especially from new drivers. I can't see them agreeing to reduce their premiums. I know they are in business to make money, but there's making money... and there's making money.

The thing with comparason websites, they are charge the insurance companies a fee for the "privelege" of being included on the comparison list. As I found out when I used the meerkat one when I had my Omega. I did an online quote with the meerkats, got a price. I then contacted the cheapest company direct, gave the same details and figures etc. When they asked how I heard about them, I said recommendtion. They then came back with a marginally cheaper price... which I acepted and took out. Come renewal time, it was almost double. They have no loyalty to current customers... they only really want new ones.

i know what yuor saying with the loyalty thing, a friend at work told me about his father that he had about 14 yrs no claims he had been with the same company for about 10 year and he went to renew a few months back and they gave him a more expensive quote than the year before.so he decided to go on a comparison site got a quote with the same company (alot cheaper) and all they could say was you were'nt a new customer now you are we can make it cheaper
how the hell can they have the cheek to do this!!!
