Cheers mate. I'm really not in any rush to make any real progress on it if I'm honest. Although I did start it up today, and it run quite well. The turbo spooled up nicely, in fact it spooled up a lot better than the work van I have been abusing. I personally doubt it is the head gasket to be honest, or should that be hope. A few people I have spoken to about it seem to think it might be the oil cooler that has failed, but could still be the h/g if I'm unlucky. The only thing that's gunged up is the expansion tank. I took the oil cap off and had a look inside, and to my suprise it's clean. Well, as clean as old oil can be. So not sure what to do.

Tomorrow, weather permitting, I am going to give her a good T-Cutting and polish. Still waiting for my mate to bring my alloys back round to me, bit of luck it'll be tomorrow. 14" rusty steelies or reasonabley shiney alloys... not really a contest

Nothing much to report on my "new" van as I've been busy with other things....  :lazy: is one of them.  :D Anyways, I gave it a bit of a clean out on the inside, no more empty coke cans and milk containers, or piles of saw dust. Funnily enough, after I'd cleaned it out, it started to smell a lot healthier in there. Still not perfect, but once I give it a full valet, it should be spot on.

Been talking to a couple of people that do spray painting, and thinking about doing a bit of colour coding (rear bumper, side "skirts" and mirrors). The back end will eventually have some carpet tiles laid in it, which should help quieten down the road noise a little bit. Also I am looking to build a bit of a stereo install in the back just behind the rear bulkhead. Not sure wether to stick with one sub (12") or go for two 10" subs instead.  :scratch_ones_head:

I'll keep the updates coming as long as you keep reading them  I won't be fitting any subs at the minute, got to get it running first. I have half installed the amp (it has a positive power supply, and that was a game an half!). I also started to give the body a bit of loving with a bit of T Cut that I found. Only managed to do the drivers wing, door and rear quarter panel before I ran out.  Do'h! On a positive level, it does look a lot better than it did. She's actually white and not a manky off-white  :dance1: my phone died, so I didn't take any pics today. I will take some tomorrow, promise.

Tomorrow's plan after I have finished my site visit and met with the MD of Hillier's to discuss the Chelsea plans (should be fun  :sarcastic: ) Time permitting, I should then be able to continue T-Cutting the body, then make a start on the interior. I have full valeting equipment and chemicals available, so I might as well use them.

Erm yeah, about that one...... It would appear that my fuel pump/ EDU is failing. I have come to this conclusion on the basis that 9 times out of 10 she won't run..... (fuel filter near on empty). When it does run, it only ticks over for about 2 minutes before it dies again (empty fuel filter again).  >:(

Also I suspect the oil cooler is dead, as the expansion tank for the coolant system is full of oil (same as what my first Omega did). So progress will be very slow for a while.

Oh and I know I promised pics today, but I forgot. :sorry:

by the souns of the gunk in the expansion tank your going down the right road with the oil cooler being at fault because darrels vectra had the same problem and it sort of looked like runny you know what in the expansion tank when he was cleaning it out as the oil cooler sits in a water bath and obviously when the oil cooler failed it bled out into the cooling system as to the short running time im not sure as iv never realy worked on diesel engines.

Thanks for you reply Baynie, that's exactly what I thought..... going to find a replacement oil cooler and get that fitted once funds permit.

Dan.... haven't been anywhere near the van since Thursday last week.... not been well. Depending on how I feel later, I might visit the van and take some pics

Good luck with the oil filter. Nice and messy job getting all the oil out of the water ways :D

I got a power washer on the job and blew it out

Cheers for your reply and the tip  :good: Once it's alive, I'll bring it round to you so you can do the honours  I know all about cleaning the gunge out of the coolant circuit on a car. The first Omega V6 I bought suffered the same thing.... and that was a nightmare to clean out, but I got there eventually.  :D

Power washer sounds like the way forward to me. Good luck getting it sorted mate.

Cheers mate  :good: I'll keep you all updated as I go along... but be warned, it will be a slow (just like the van itself  )

Still no joy with getting it to run. So, today I decided to plug her into my op-com (could only find my demo disc, not the proper one). Anyway, here's what came back  >:(  :skull:

On the positive side, had a compression test done, and I have good compression, so at least I won't have to do head gasket.

So the jobs to do are; source and fit EDU (fuel pump "brain") (£195), oil cooler (£40), glow plug relay/ controller (£39), clean out the coolant circuit and do a full service including pads and discs... then I can start tweaking it
