Hey all newbie here
« on: December 13, 2010, 04:03:21 PM »

Hi there everybody

I am in North Yorkshire and I am building a cally 2.5 V6 track car, now I know the 2.5 is not the best car for a track car but it's what I wanted to do, there are far too many turbo's astras and corsa's out there on the track (yes I know why).

Well I just wanted to say hello to you all.

I will get some pics up soon and a project thread.

Speak soon

Callum

Well I will start a project thread but what I have done so far is:

1. 3.0 cams
2. 4 bar fpr
3. vectra metal cam covers
4. f20 gearbox
5. c20let lightened flywheel and clutch
6. ford probe stainless exhaust manifold modified to fit calibra

To be done

1. heads ported and polished
2. +1mm valves
3. New suspension all round
4. 308mm breakes front and back
5. powerflow exhaust full race system
6. braided fuel lines
7. braided brake lines (got just need to fit)
8. interior strip out
9. race seats and harnesses

well that is just a initial list of what I need to do to have a half decent track car. will probably have to do more as I go along as you never know what you will find.

Anyway people thanks for the welcome and I will speak to you all again soon.

Dan it will not be road legal as the sort of work I am doing to it would not be (how can I put it) safe and road worthy ;)

Taz the flanges are slightly different but not much and can be changed by advanced automotive in Newcastle for less than £100.

Much cheaper than the £950 for the same spec cally 2.5 v6 manifold.

may i ask what you are going to do to make it as you put unsafe or unroad worthy as a track car to enter certain cups the car does need to be safe.  I love what you are doing and am inquisitive of why you dont go all out and make it legal on the road to show a few of the chavs how to do it lol

The original plan was to male it road legal but the restrictions for this are so strict that most MOT testers would rip it to pieces and I would end up with a fail list as long as Dirk Digglers schlong.

Now when it is finished I might try and get it through an MOT and if the fail list is not too bad I might do the work.

Would be nice to pull along some Chav in his 1.1 fiesta who thinks he is Ken Block and [censored] all over him.

Honestly this project is more about seeing what I can do with am engine as I could have got cally manifolds but I wanted to do something different.

I am also considering fitting a supercharger driven by the aux belt by removing the air con pump and putting a gear system on there to get the required rotations.

Plan is to get it running on Croft Circuit by March next year as is now then try and make a few changes for pvs then tvl.

Well as said my plan is to have a working car for PVS so I will probably have to leave embarrising the chavs until I get onto the drag strip  :D
