Well not been on for a very long time. Hope everyone has had a great christmas!!!!

Bit of an update. Rebuilt the engine.....

Took the head off and the cam and rockers look shafted!!!!

While it was all in bits I decided to clean up and repaint some bits. Good old Gunk

Shells didnt look very good. Looked like lack of oil...

Cam kit arrived and I got serious wood!!!

Have painted the engine bay and sump and treated it no a new copper washer and sump bolt

onto the block. have only done front and back so far as not yet decided how far towards gearbox im gonna go.

ive also used some of this on some unsightly wires. looks a million times better than what it did. im not usually a big fan of this stuff but its the red and blue stuff i dont like. ive also sorted the battery clamp and cleaned out the expansion bottle....

The new cam loobed up and in its new home

Got the polishing kit out and gave the fuel pump a going over....

Treated the cam cover to a bit of detail

Replaced the valve stem seals

And some other bits

Didnt take long to realise they were on upside down lol

New bottom shells

With the help of a couple of members off mk1oc we did some reproduction oil cap stickers...

Sent the carb to germany for a full service and some new gaskets and this is how it came back

Picked up some needed bits off a fellow mk1er

Had some goodies.....

Bought a clutch kit off ebay for £16 expecting a cheapo....

Did some paint correction...

Some much needed work on the brakes.

BEFORE

AFTER

Got some EBC pads in there too.

Which brings me up to now roughly. Got pretty much all the bits needed to do a manual conversion, gearbox needs cleaning, repainting, re gasketing and a checkover by the local gearbox place before fitting.

Think im going to need new starter motor and passenger drive shaft. Will find out when I get to it I suppose.

Im off again on Tuesday so the back brakes are getting serviced and new brake fluid fully flushed through the system. Thinking of fitting GTE drums as them and the pads are wider.

Hope you enjoyed the update!!!

I also soaked the oil pick up pipe and pump in parrafin and bottle brushed all the oilways clearing all the crap out. Im putting the lack of oil to the bottom end etc to the build up of crud so alls well now.
