newbie from Bristol
« on: May 25, 2010, 11:10:29 PM »

Hi all
Just joined the forum, planning to go to Billing with the Cavalier.
The car's a MK1 Cavalier Sportshatch 1600 GLS first registered in Feb 1980, so the old girls 30 years old now.
Bought it a year ago of Flea bay, 59,000 miles and was zeibart rustproofed from new hence the remarkable condition.

Previous owner had it resprayed due to paint fade a few years ago & at the same time debadged it and fitted bonnet pins.
I fitted a temporary vauxhall badge to the rear [from a frontera i think] got fed up whith people asking me what make of car it was
I'm hoping to pick up some badges from Billing this year.

I  went to Billing last year with the Cav a few weeks after i bought it, joined the Opel Manta owners club [South Wales section] and went up in a convoy of 6 from Bristol on Friday morning then stayed the weekend. Doing the same this year & will be camping in the OMOC field.
Will post some more pics and details about the Cav in the "show us your car" section.

Managed to put some pics of the cav in the appropriate section of the forum.
Will be taking the Cav to a classic car show at Berkley Castle South Glos on Bank holiday monday.
This saturday i'm going to Castle Combe circuit with my other classic car, a 1988 Lotus Excel.
Its a lotus day at the Combe and spectators can get in free [i think] 9:00 till 16:00, there will be Lotus cars from 60's Elans to todays Evora's & Exiges, anyway enough waffling from me, some pics of the Lotus.
