mk4 Astra, any good?
« on: November 23, 2009, 06:44:51 PM »

Hi all,

Right, need some help on my next car. I currently have a mk3 Astra sport (a shed of one, I admit, but even so), and just "sold" my Omega. The thing is my current Astra needs a fair bit of TLC, and I really can't be bothered to administer it, so thinking of replacing it with a mk4.

Basically, what i want to know is, are they any good? My current Astra has the 1.8 16v engine [C18XEL] which is pretty good for what it is. Well, when I say that, I mean when it's healthy and running problem free. I will either be looking at a 1.8 or 2.0 hatch, or maybe an estate. As much as I like the Recaro interior in my Sport, I'm getting a bit too old (nearly 29) for a Sport model now, so looking for comfort, rather than sporty handling.

So, what's your suggestions/ opinions?

:haha: My name's Damian, not Kev!  I know what you are saying about the back end, but as I won't be seeing it that often, I'm not too fussed about it.

I know 29 isn't old, but most of the time I feel 129  :suicide:

Sorry Vinny, my middle name is Paul.

I have only ever owned two silver cars, one of which was the Omega, the other being a D reg Honda Accord. I wouldn't have another silver car, unless I end up having the Omega back. It's a shame they didn't paint the mk4 in Graphite Mica.

I do like the Coupe version of the Astra, but they are not exactly practical for my line of work.
