a few quotes of of vvoc steve that might help you out

msd bought the sri's and made them into gsi's
so yes all gsi's are made by msd and some vauxhall garages look at you stupid whe you say you got a gsi, or when you give them your reg and then say it's a gsi as they're computor says its a sri, they even had pics of mine, well the parts etc, lether seats and stuff. as it was when it was a sri.
Thats for facelift ones, with the 4 "G" cams are pushing out 192bhp. Prefacelift GSI`s have 2 "G" cams, and 2 "A" cams and push out 170 odd bhp.
They also had lower springs, recaro seats. Alloy gearknob, facelift had "GSI" steering wheel in titanium look. Also had 17" alloys. Irmscher bumpers, and skirts..
The Irmscher kit clearly includes cams, exhaust AND ecu modifications in order to give a 24bhp gain on an X25XE.
24BHP the EXACT diffrence between a GSi and an SRi.
Coincidence?

MSD it is said werent allowed access to the ecu codes to alter them?
Well somebody at Irmscher had the codes because they were advertising that they were re maping them, maybe they sent these ecu's to Bosch in Germany I don't know.

Vauxhall checked the Irmscher kit for me and the tech I spoke to said that the kit included remapping to make best use of the different cams and exhaust, small changes were made to timing and fueling.

MSD were an outside organisation asked to modify SRi's to GSi spec. I would assume that Vauxhall knew which batch of SRi's were being sent to MSD before they went?
Isn't it possible that these cars had modified ecus before they ever left Vauxhall? If that is true then MSD would assume that the ecus were identical and untouched?

Irmscher advertise 24bhp increase including ecu remap.
Vauxhall admit ecus were modified

MSD claim ecus were standard..

Well if it is any better, my old sri managed to get 170.9 bhp on the rollers at PVS 08.
I always keep my printouts as it's good to keep  :clapping:

well im not sure with the veccy engines but i would have thought as they are the same number as in the cally's  x25xev the given BHP figure is not correct anyway

as some in standard have produced over 190bhp im sure tazz can correct me if im wrong

vinny mate you where sort of right mate
are we ready
X25XE:short stroke block revs faster (slightly)
better valves in cylinder head breathes better
omega's and vectra's some calibra's
but the calibras used older C25xe heads so what gains where made from the faster revving block where lost
and because vauxhall decided to be more stringent with tolerances engines power output on x25xe were more in line with official vx figures
C25XE long stroke engine so its a little lazy
cylinder heads and breathing ar restricted, so they said
and officiall power out puts are all over the joint from engine to engine
but never lower so as vinny said 170bhp to 190bhp on a standard engine,
no one can answer why this is but it is a well reported fact that the older engines output can vary
with msd saying that they never played with the ecu is just a big lie, as Vauxhall commisioned msd to build a race series using the vectra, this included reprogramming ecu's all the information from MSD's test mule where given back to vauxhall and vauxhall changed the codes before shipping the batch of road going vectras out to msd.
vauxhall also done this for the police vectras so all the police forces say that theyre cars were standard ecu settings, yes the police didnt change them but it was done before delivery from the factory, but the general public couldnt go and buy a vectra with the same fuelling maps as the police ones
