My 3.0 Elite estate.
« on: November 11, 2009, 05:39:46 PM »

Hi all,

Thought I would post up some pics of my other wreck. She is a 3.0 Elite estate, finished in Star Silver 2, which I use mainly as the work bus. I am the third owner, the first being a dealer principal. When the car was new, it had all the options ticked. Electric heated leather (front and rear), xenon headlights, built in sat nav (bit fiddley to use, so use TomTom instead), dual climate air con (needs a regass) and a Bose stereo with built in phone and 10 disc muti changer

At present, she needs 4 new tyres and the passenger side cat has a slight blow where it joins up with exhaust manifold. The front shocks have got a slight leak, and the front passenger lower arm needs replacing as the bushes are starting to split. And finally, new discs and pads at the front.

Due to health issues, I am not working at present, so the car is on loan to my colleague. As a result, I very rarely have the car

Feel free to leave any comments, good or bad. Sorry about pic quality..... pants camera and I was freezing at the time I took them

Cheers

Thanks for the reply, Vinnie.

The 3.0 v6 is nice engine. It is a really smooth drive. Plenty of power throughout the rev range. The sport mode on the auto box is great fun when I want to have a play. (Keeping within the limits of course!)

The fuel consumption isn't too bad either. Round town I average 28 mpg, which is only 2 mpg more than what my 1.8 Astra Sport hatch. On a long run, the Omega is a lot better on fuel than the Astra. My insurance is only £154 more than the Astra, which is odd as the Omega's insurance is business use.

It's used as a work horse mainly because of the amount I can carry in it, having a towbar also has it's uses.

I know. Unfortunately, most of the 3.0 Omega's were specified with Satan's gearbox. My personal preference is a manual, less hassle and cheaper if/ when it goes wrong. To be fair though, I have never known a Vauxhall auto box to fail....... having said that, you watch, mine will fail tomorrow

I have faith in her. It was said that the auto boxs fitted to the mk3 granada's were indestructable. My old M reg Granada Cossie can tell you a different story. To start with, 4th failed, then 3rd and reverse. That heap of c*** went where all Fords should go..... to the bailer  :yahoo:

She's a good girl....... She know's she has to stay alive, or face the bailer. On the plus side, as it is out on loan, if it does die, I can blame the person who is using her, and get them to pay for the repair.

It worked before with my old ST24 Mondeo. The cd changer packed up after a disc was forced into it, the person who broke it paid for a brand new one from a Ford main dealer. 3 weeks later, sold the car, vowing never to have another Ford..... but bought a Granada cossie. oops. Still my "fleet" only consists of the MK3 Astra and the Omega.

Yes, but only if you replace it with a 3.2 v6 and a manual box.
