Hi all,

Been a while since I last updated this thread..... Well, with nothing exciting happening to the shed, it would have been pointless.

Anyway, during the snow, I loaned the shed to a female friend (well, one of my beloved ex's), who managed to bend the driver's side wishbone and destroyed the matching tire. I hope that's all she managed to do, if the subframe is bent, then there is going to be another Astra Sport going to grave yard! :suicide:  >:( women driver's. A little bit of snow and nearly everybody forgets how to drive  ::)

Also sorted the water pump as it was leaking. Got a replacement one and a new thermostate for £30, which I thought was pretty good. Whilst the pump was out, I took the opporunity to give the coolant system a good flush through..... the amount of s***e that came out was unbelievable. Now have a decent level of hot air coming out of the heaters.  :dance1:

Having got all that done, I have decided to finally tidy up the wiring for the CD changer and the amp in the boot, and actually secure the said units. Still not perfect, but at least I don't have spaghetti wiring everywhere.

Well, I did say nothing much has been happening with the car

Hey! Damian welcome back. Haven't you noticed you don't need to have anything useful to say to post on here. :D

:haha: Thanks Charlie  :drinks:.... but never been one to spam, so if I don't have anything say, I will normally keep quiet. I do however log in on a daily basis, to catch up on anything that I have missed.

Spam away!

Tough break with someone else " bending " your car for you, that sucks!

I hope they offered to contribute to the cost of fixing it.

Thanks Steve,

And yes she did, but can' realyy divulge the sordid secrets on here  :blush2: if you catch my meaning  Anyway, a gentleman never tells.... or something like that!  :haha:

Going to give the front end a full inspection tomorrow sometime, and post up my findings.  :fie:

Got to be in Northampton at 8.30am to take a mate's BMW 130 M Sport cabriolet in for it's service. Shame I'm not picking it up for him, but glad I'm not paying for the servicing costs!

Little update.

Right well today, dragged the shed off the trailer for inspection.....

Good news

It may live to see another day. Subframe is straight!

Bad news

Needs new wishbone, bolts, anti rollbar drop link, tire, shock absorber, strut top mount, airbag and possibly airbag ecu, and a track rod end!  >:(

The moral of the story, don't loan your car out....... especially not to a woman anyway  :nono:

:haha: although 36DD's are nice, it don't mean she can get away with crippling a man's car  :nono:

Might just have to seek further compensation

:haha: I'll take you word on that, Dunny!

Anyway, today I took a trip to the breakers yard to stock pile a some bits for my heap. Managed to get front shock, lower wishbone and an airbag ecu. I was going to get a Vectra steering wheel, but the donut wanted £60 for it, I laughed and walked away.

Still need to get a anti roll bar drop link and a airbag/ replacement steering wheel and a track rod end. Got a couple of part worn tires on route, thanks to my stepdad. A bargain £8 each. I am lead to believe that one of them is Pirelli that has covered less the 1k miles, but I'll find out when they get here.

Bit of advice, if you get offered the use of a Ka, do yourself a favour and decline it. They are hideous, slow and really uncomfortable. Ok so the handling is pretty good, but I like to actually go somewhere when I put my foot down. 1.3 engine with a "scary" 70 bhp, really didn't impress me.
