What do you do about insurance on your moded motors?

Do you declare the changes?

How much extra does it cost?

What insurance company do you use?

I declared all mods on the B, dont think it cost that much extra in the long run and it gives you piece of mind.  The C I only have the tuning box on and think that cost an extra ?20 with my current insurers (cant remember who that is with though)

Hopefully in the future, Chris Knott will be able to sort out the insurance as I have been in talks with Tim Slater from there and he is going to sort out a clubvec discount (passed over Chris's details also, so hopefully you guys will benefit too)

Other insurers known to be good with modded cars are Adrian Flux, they do club discounts also :)

Sounds good. It will be nice if members can get something for all their efforts.

Adrian Flux is on my list of companys that offer club discounts that i will be contacting in the future,i think we need to get our numbers up first though but rest assured once we are a bit better established there will be some member discounts on the way.
Due to vq9 being a totally free to use site we cant really have people joining up just for the discounts then never being heard from again. So to ensure the dedicated members get the benefits i'm going to set a target for them to qualify, the target being 250 posts, once this has been acheived they will have access to the discount board that will be created.
I hope this is to everyones satisfaction.

Like everyone else said I would tell the insurers firstly cos if they find mods on the vehicle when an engineer goes out to agree repairs they will ask you questions about them and may in extreme cases void the policy and not cover the vehicle due to breach of contract.

I'm with LV, because they offer the most complete package for the best price.
I get a discount for being a member of a particular organisation, which helps greatly.
One lesson I have learned, never accept your renewal quote. Always look around and then go back to your current insurer with a list of quotes. Chances are they will miraculously come up with a much better price. I do this every year and the price usually drops by around ?30. :good:
